Title: Research Program Manager
Email: lh1761@msstate.edu

Leann Hopper is the Research Program Manager for the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) Menu Tool project at Mississippi State University's Geosystems Research Institute. Her interests include land conversion, environmental conservation, and land use economics. Growing up on a cattle farm in West Tennessee, her dedication to the agriculture industry began at a young age.

Leann obtained her B.S. in Agribusiness from Mississippi State University, where she gained interest in environmental economics and conservation. While working on her M.S. in Agricultural Economics at the University of Tennessee, her research allowed her to combine her passion for the agriculture industry and conservation. Leann worked alongside Tennessee state government and the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation to identify agricultural and forestry land conversion and urban sprawl across the state, while using econometric modeling to detect drivers for land reclassification.

Working on the CRP Menu Tool project, Leann is collaborating with local, state, and national USDA agents to optimize the decision support tool, by creating a platform that encourages landowner participation and increases understanding in CRP.

Outside of work, Leann spends her time painting, hand embroidering, attending concerts, and playing fetch with her dog, Doris.
