Hi, I'm Zoë Scott, I'm currently a master's student and graduate research assistant advised by Dr. Kristine Evans. My graduate research focuses on nesting red-headed woodpeckers in managed pine forests, with the goal of providing management recommendations for snag (standing dead tree) retention to promote nest resources in these landscapes. I'm originally from Idaho Falls, Idaho and attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. I received my bachelor's in Ecology and Conservation Biology with a Geotechnology minor in 2023. While at ISU I interned in a plant genomics lab and worked on undergraduate research projects assessing wetland use by wildlife after targeted grazing as well as mapping habitat for species of conservation need from remotely sensed datasets to inform reintroductions.

I worked for Idaho Fish and Game for three years as a wildlife habitat technician and a wildlife diversity technician. Through these positions I assisted regional biologists with projects promoting habitat for priority game species, controlling invasive species, and monitoring nongame priority species. My interests include nongame species, particularly avian species and those of conservation concern. My career aspirations involve working with these species to conserve them and manage for biodiversity. In my free time I enjoy reading, wildlife photography, camping/hiking, and horseback riding.
