Hello, I'm Saikanth Ratnavale, a Research Epidemiological Modeler at the Geosystems Research Institute at Mississippi State University. In my role, I support USDA/ARS projects by applying advanced mathematical frameworks for disease forecasting.

Originally from Sri Lanka, I have a strong academic background in Mathematics. I earned my BSc in Mathematics with a specialization from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, followed by an MS and PhD from Texas Tech University. My primary research focuses on Applied Mathematics, specifically Numerical Analysis, Scientific Computing, and Mathematical Modeling. Over the years, I have gained extensive teaching and research experience at various universities across the United States. During my postdoctoral positions at Northern Arizona University and the University of Notre Dame, I developed parameter estimation methods and optimal control strategies to tackle infectious diseases.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy visiting national parks and capturing landscape and nature photographs. I'm also passionate about exploring new technologies in the automotive industry and constantly learning about the latest innovations in that field.
